Convertible Car Seats
Convertible car seats are suitable from newborn up until four years of age. Starting with rear facing then converting the seat to forward facing mode.
(Infasecure have a convertible seat that suits birth – eight year of age)
Rearward-facing position until your child’s shoulders reach the lower shoulder height marker (approx. 12 – 18 months of age approx)
Rear-facing until approx. 30 months up until four years of age or when the child’s shoulders reach the middle height marker.
Forward facing until the child reaches the upper height marker (approx four years age) (Infasecure have a seat that caters to eight years approx)
Convertible Car Seats: may have ISOFIX attachments car seat model dependent.
Convertible Car Seats: must have a top tether and a 5-point or 6 point harness
Convertible Car Seats: are distinguished via the presence of
>rebound bar for rear facing mode
>BLUE and YELLOW stickers that show seat belt pathway.
LEGAL v’s RECOMMENDATIONS:
When can your child be moved to forward facing mode?
When your baby is aged between 6 or 12 months (depending on the type of rearward facing child car seat you use) and is able to hold their head up; or when they reach the minimum height marker.
Leave your child rear facing until shoulders meet markers printed or sewn on the cover. The sign is when for when your baby can move to a forward facing position when his/her shoulders have surpassed the lower and middle marks
Leave you baby rear facing until the reach the upper edges of the middle (convert to forward facing) marker.
The average age is between 30 months and 4 years of age.
At this stage four years of age is the maximum age your child can stay rear facing until.
